Therapy for Women of Color & High-Achievers in Chicago, IL
Dr. LaTasha Miller, PsyD
I work with high-achieving BIPOC millennials who have technically 'made it' but still feel unfulfilled, heal from trauma and burnout so they can thrive — not just survive — in their relationships with themselves and their loved ones.
Specialized Psychological Services in River North & Online
If you’re here, you may be like many of the people I work with. So much of your life you’ve spent focused on not rocking the boat. On making sure everyone around you is ok. You’ve pushed yourself to be high achieving and accomplished, and you’ve probably been praised on how well you hold everything together. You’ve made all of these accomplishments and done everything right. But now you’re wondering:
Why do I still feel stuck when I’ve done everything “right”?
Why does it feel so hard to rest, trust myself, or fully be me?
When do I finally get to stop surviving and start feeling present in my own life?
You don’t have to carry it alone.
Together, we will work together to help you understand the patterns, strategies, and experiences that have helped you get to where you are, but no longer seem to be working for you. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you feel safe enough to finally show up as your full, authentic self.
Perfectionism & High-Functioning Burnout Therapy
The millennial women I work with have historically thrived on achievement and getting it “right”, but are starting to notice that the accomplishments aren’t bringing the same sense of fulfillment anymore. Some are in toxic workplaces, some are just generally feeling overworked. Now they feel the pressure of continuing to succeed, while juggling a home and social life and it’s all feeling like too much. High-functioning burnout often looks like hyper-independence, physical fatigue, racing thoughts at night, and a constant fear of letting the ball drop.
How We Work Together: In our sessions, I can help you:
Calm a Frazzled Nervous System: Unlearn chronic "fight-or-flight" survival modes and drop the constant state of internal high alert.
Set Guilt-Free Boundaries: Learn how to say "no" at work and in relationships without feeling like you are failing or letting people down.
Identify Your Core Values: Reconnect with what actually brings you joy, moving away from external validation and societal expectations.
Create a Sustainable Life: Transition from high-functioning anxiety into a grounded, deeply fulfilled life where rest is a priority, not an afterthought.
Are you ready to drop the weight of perfectionism?
Anxiety & Trauma Recovery Treatment
Many of the people I work with have spent so much time trying to overcome stressors, that they never fully let themselves pay attention to the impact of the stress. Our bodies can bear the weight of years of distressing moments and unsafe experiences, but the symptoms may start to take a toll. You may notice trouble sleeping, irritability, difficulty trusting others, or feeling antsy/restless.
How We Work Together Whether meeting in person in River North or via telehealth, our work focuses on healing the root of your anxiety or trauma and grounding you in your authentic self:
Somatic & Nervous System Regulation: Learn practical techniques to discharge stored stress, ease physical anxiety, and help your body feel like a safe place to land.
Processing Microaggressions & Systemic Stress: Deconstruct the emotional toll of code-switching, workplace discrimination, and racial trauma without invalidating your lived experience.
Untangling Generational & Cultural Expectations: Navigate complex family dynamics, honor your roots, and rewrite cultural scripts that require you to sacrifice your own well-being.
Reclaiming Authentic Identity: Reconnect with who you are beneath societal expectations, imposter syndrome, and survival patterns; learn to build more internal security.
If you’re ready to start prioritizing your own healing, growth, and peace, I’d love to support you.
What working together looks like
1. A free 15-minute consult: We hop on a call or video chat so you can ask questions, hear how I work, and see if it feels like a fit.
2. Your first session: I learn about what brought you here, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping for. You don't need to come in with the "right" answers, I just want to focus on building a relationship and a game plan.
3. Ongoing therapy: We meet weekly or biweekly for sessions, unless you’ve chosen an intensive. We go at your pace and revisit what's working as we go.
