FAQs
What is a consultation call?
In a consultation call, I will speak with you for about 15 minutes to discuss your therapy needs. This will also give you an opportunity to ask me any questions you might have. There is no charge for this consultation.
Is therapy right for me?
Therapy can benefit all kinds of people with varying concerns. Many people seek therapy when they feel the issue they are experiencing has become overwhelming or is negatively impacting their functioning. If you are unsure, feel free to schedule a consultation call to discuss.
How often should we meet?
Therapy typically occurs weekly; research has indicated people tend to see benefits following weekly sessions lasting approximately 50-55 minutes per session. However, sometimes clients elect to meet biweekly for various reasons. I am happy to discuss these options with you.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions varies, but research suggests many people find the most benefit in 12 to 16 sessions. Some people need more, and some less. I will always check in with you throughout the course of treatment about how you feel you are progressing and we can shorten or lengthen the number of sessions as appropriate.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, I only conduct psychotherapy. If you think medication might be right for you, I am happy to discuss this and empower you to speak with a prescriber.
What kinds of clients do you see?
I primarily work with adults, but have limited availability to see adolescents ages 16 and older. I also work with couples. I love working with clients from diverse backgrounds, and am particularly passionate about serving marginalized and underserved populations.
What type of therapy is right for me?
No therapy is one-size-fits-all; in our first session together, I will gather information about your symptoms, your treatment history, and your goals, which will allow me to provide you with appropriate treatment options. Treatment planning is collaborative in nature, and I will encourage you to share your thoughts on the options presented to you.
How much should I expect to pay?
Individual session (50-60 minutes): $205
Couples Therapy (50-60 minutes): $215
Do you accept insurance?
I am taking Aetna, Optum (United Healthcare), and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Additionally, a sliding scale is available and can be discussed during our consultation call.
Can I see you in person?
Yes! In-person and virtual sessions are available.
